Zuni fetish bear rainbow calcilica stone signed by the carver

Description

A beautiful rainbow calcilica stone bear fetish from Zuni pueblo.  Artist is Bernard Laiwakete.
The Zuni Native Americans strongly believes in six cardinal guardian fetishes. The guardian fetish to the North is the mountain lion,
to the South is the badger, to the West is the bear and to the East is the wolf.
The arrowhead bundle attached to the fetish is for the protection and strength of the fetish.
Bears are for protection, strength, introspection and power of the soul.
There is a line crack on the back and sides of the bear (please see photos). This line was actually included by the artist during carving.
You can't feel the line crack when you run your fingers over it.
The artist does not consider this damaged or broken, because this is a very hard stone.
Rainbow calcilica stones are tough to find.
