Description
This mask comes to you fresh from a local estate. The previous owner’s relatives told me their family lived in Alaska thru the 1970’s. In the early 1980’s they moved to the Puget Sound. They said the mask was packed and moved to the new house and was never removed from the box. Somehow, one of the feathers that attaches one of the “fins” went missing. Maybe it went missing before the move? Anyhow, a toothpick was used to re-attach it. Other than this, the mask is in excellent condition.
The kids didn’t know who the artist was. They said their father had a beautiful collection. It was divided up between the kids. This mask was found as they were clearing the house and decided that they would let this one go.
I’ve enjoyed owning this for about a year. It has lots of character but maybe somebody else will appreciate it even more than me?
The main body of the mask measures approximately 9 1/2” in diameter. With the fins, fish, and seals attached it measures approximately 18” in diameter.
