Authentic Zuni SPECIAL SALE traditional ceremonial rain dancer fetish carved by Old Man Dave Cooeyate
Description and attributes:
This is a rain dancer carved from beautiful jet with inlaid turquoise body adornments, necklace, mouth, and eyes. A basically jet black multicolor rough natural stone traditional rain maiden, man or dancer--since either a man or woman can be this dancer--purchased by us quite a few years ago directly from Dave. Old man Dave no longer carves due to diabetes, amputations, and general ill health. A real collector's traditional fetish! This rain dancer has a drill hole on it's backside near it's neck, that doesn't detract from it's beauty, because Dave was trying to make it a bead, but was not completely successful--so it needs a special loving home.
Approximate dimensions in inches are: 1 7/8" height X 1 1/4" width X 3/8" depth.
Certificate of authenticity will be enclosed with your purchase.
The rain dancer or rain man is a symbol of power over the rain and life giving water. He accompanies the Shalako during the Rain Dance.
Jet is said to enhance luck, happiness, goodness, confidence, courage and leadership abilities, dispel fearful thoughts, and enhance one's finances.
Turquoise is said to enhance the joy of life, warn of danger, heal sadness and grief, induce wisdom, understanding, strength, good health, courage, success, love, good fortune, and is called the lucky stone.
