Offered here is a
BEAR
fetish carving by Native American Zuni Pueblo Artisan:
Delvin Leekya
.  I love how the head is lowered and turned slightly as if curiously inspecting something on the ground.
This rather rotund bear is carved from Zuni stone, a form of travertine found near the Zuni Pueblo in New Mexico.  This bear is a wonderful example of the famous Leekya Family carvings!  Very personable!
The eyes are inlaid turquoise dots.  The medicine bundle is composed of two arrowheads, the larger being mother of pearl and the smaller pink mussel shell.
The orange display stones shown in the photos are not included in this auction.

SIZE:
This carving measures just about 2&1/2" long.  It is up to an inch wide and just under 2" high to the top of the medicine bundle.

so be sure to look at the photos with the ruler, quarter or the hand to get an idea of the size and scale.
CONDITION:
NEW
AUTHENTICITY:
This is an authentic Native American carved item and comes from the Zuni Pueblo in northern New Mexico (USA).  The piece is initialed by the artist, "DL", on the bottom.
ATTRIBUTES:
In Zuni tradition, each animal has specific characteristics and powers that may aid the owner of a fetish carved in the image of that animal.
The bear represents strength and introspection on the spiritual journey through life.
