Description

Air Mail Route 9 was extended to Honolulu and Hilo in the “Domestic Phase of the Transpacific Route Investigation.” The first dispatch from the mainland to Honolulu was made via a flight originating at Atlanta on August 14, 1969, which operated via Dallas. This same flight also provided the first westbound service from Atlanta by Braniff International Airways.
No cachet was provided for the inaugural mail from Atlanta.
